Reality TV, savior of human space travel

Just when I think that reality TV is threatening to destroy civilization as we know it, the AIAA is reporting that Mars One aims to turn the colonization of Mars into a reality TV show: Mars One Aims to Send Spacecraft Based on NASA’s Phoenix to Mars. This is among their other, more altruistic, goals, which include bringing the world together and inspiring future generations, etc. LockMart is going to build a lander based on the Phoenix Lander and Surrey Satellite Technology Ltd is working on a satellite to transmit live video from Mars. Their lander could launch as early as 2018. If reality TV can make this all happen, more power to it. That's a show I'd watch! More on CBS News.
