Another Collier's Magazine a lot more

Clark Lindsey points to the latest issue of the Houston AIAA Section's Horizons Newsletter: AIAA Houston Horizons, Sept/Oct: Collier's 1952 pt.2, 100 Year Starship, a real space opera, and more.
AIAA Houston Section has released the September/October 2012 Issue of the Horizons Newsletter
/-- low resolution (pdf, 13.6MB) /-- high resolution (pdf, 46.5MB)
This newsletter is really an exceptional resource and Clark is good enough to let us know about them. The highlight of  this issue is the second reprint from Collier’s Magazine's Man Will Conquer Space Soon! series that was originally published from 1952 to 1954. This features articles by Dr. Wernher von Braun and Willy Ley as well as artwork by Chesley Bonestell.  This stuff is just so cool and inspirational.  I snipped one piece of artwork to snazz-up this post.  Other stuff that caught my eye included:
  • A report on the 100 Year Starship Public Symposium
  • Scott Lowther's review of Convair's proposed Super-NEXUS SSTO. This behemoth would launch on conventional liquid motors and then four nuclear Gas Core Rockets would kick in.
  • A report on NASA JSC's work on rotor deceleration for capsules.
