Today, the Space Telescope Science Institute (STScI) in Baltimore named a huge database of astronomical observations the Barbara A. Mikulski Archive for Space Telescopes (MAST). Senator Mikulski has long been a champion for NASA and space science in general. Way to go Senator Mikulski! (Oh yeah an exploding star was also named for her, but I saw no specifics about that on Space.com.)
Also today, NASA's T-38 training jets buzzed Washington D.C. Without the Shuttle, I guess they are left to photo ops? However, the photos were pretty awesome.
