James Cameron has reached the Earth's deepest spot

At approximately 3:15 p.m. ET, filmamaker and National Geographic explorer James Cameron began descending solo to Earth's deepest spot. The Mariana Trench's Challenger Deep is almost 7 miles (11 km) below the Earth's surface. All the details are on the NatGeo site. Here's the latest status that I've seen (without any real searching). Can't wait to see photos.
