Anatomy of a guided bullet

Sandia Labs has developed and demonstrated a self-guided bullet.  The bullet replaces rifling with small fins and can be fired from hand-held guns.  A laser tracking optical seeker and an embedded 8-bit CPU adjusts the bullet's fins at 30 samples/sec. The attached photo shows how much the bullets trajectory can be modified.  It appears that this munition actually works better at long distances and can reduce the error along a 1/2 mile path from ~30 ft to about 8 inches.(via IO9)
