Bacon cheese turtle burger...mmmmm

Notice:  No actual turtles were harmed in the making of these treats.

A friend sent me this and, since unhealthy uses of bacon has become a secondary theme here in the Dungeon, I just had to share it.
Bacon Cheese Turtle Burger
Mmmmmmm bacon...............
this is a heart attack waiting to happen.

Handmade ground beef patties, topped with sharp cheddar cheese, wrapped in a bacon weave.

Then the next step, add hotdogs as the heads, legs and tail.
Next step? Place on an oven rack, covered loosely with foil and baked for 20-30 minutes at 400 degrees.

A little crispy, not too crunchy...just how a turtle should be, no?

  1. That's almost as good as the sandwich I had the other day. A fried egg between two pancakes with bacon in them.

  4. Field Tester Warthog report

    Date of test - August 29, 2010
    Location - Wart kitchen
Procedure - made one turtle using 1/2 pound burger, hot dog head, legs and tail, bacon layered on top of turtle, cheddar cheese inside. Baked on cookie sheet at 400 degrees for 25 minutes. Did not aluminum foil.
Results - bacon done but not crispy. Cheese kinda disappeared. Burger very juicy. Hot dogs looked realistic and were tasty.
Conclusion - not bad. Put turtles on rack so juice drains off while baking. Taste was pretty good. Not a fav of Mr. & Mrs. Warthog.

  5. Thanks for the report! I had an interesting burger the other day. One nice beef patty, a big plop of smoked pulled pig (not bacon, but yummy), fried onion strings, cheddar cheese, lettuce, tomato and BBQ sauce. Yum!
