NASA has successfully tested the InterPlaNet

NASA JPL reports the successful first test of the InterPlaNet. Over a month long period, they transmitted images between their Deep Space Network (DSN) and the Epoxi spacecraft, which is currently around 20 million miles from Earth on its way to an encounter with Comet Hartley 2. The InterPlaNet is a Disruption-Tolerant Network (DTN) developed at JPL and based on a concept developed in part by Google CEO Dr. Vinton Cerf. The protocol is optimized for space communications that involves long delays, non-continuous links, etc.
