Coral reef thriving after nuclear testing

Granted it is 50 years after the fact, but scientists are reporting that the ecosystem around the Bikini Atoll is thriving. In 1954, three islands in the atoll were vaporized and, although low, the radiation levels are still not compatible with human inhabitation. However, the reef is thriving with 183 species of coral. There are even corals that are growing to 8 meters in height, which is not normal in the area. It's also interesting that the lack of humans is one reason the area is thriving. You can't eat those radioactive coconuts.
